Cody & Misty

Cody and Misty were married on December 20. I'm a little late on the blog due to the holidays, so I hope they'll forgive me! :) Here are some of my favorites from the day!I really loved this shot of her dad lifting her veil. Such a sweet moment.Instead of a unity candle, they did the sand ceremony. This is a growing trend in weddings. I don't know if any of you have ever seen it, but the bride and groom each have a jar of sand (usually 2 different colors) and they pour each of their jars into a larger jar. It creates a unique pattern and the different color grains of sand can never be totally separated. It's a very neat symbol, and creates something beautiful to place in your home as a reminder of your wedding day. Here is their sand creation.

Cody & Misty, thank you so much for allowing me to be part of your day. Enjoy your sneak peak!

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

I just wanted to let everyone know that as of today, I am officially on a vacation from any and all kinds of work! For the next week, I will be on break. So, if you call or e-mail, I will get back with you some time on the 29th or after.

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season! Love your families. Hold your friends closely. Cherish the moments. And truly savor the reason we even have Christmas:

Luke 2
1 And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered.
2 This census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria.
3 So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city.
4 Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David,
5 to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child.
6 So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered.
7 And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
8 Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night.
9 And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid.
10 Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.
11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
12 And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:
14 “ Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”
15 So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, “Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.”
16 And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger.
17 Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child.
18 And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
19 But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart.
20 Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them.

Why "first look" is a good idea.

For you brides out there who are trying to decide "to see or not to see" before the wedding, check out this post from a photographers blog. She is strictly a wedding photographer, so she does this on a very regular basis. I really enjoy her blog in general, but she always has great ideas and tips for wedding pictures.

Just in case you've ever wondered.....

...what the difference is in a "well taken photo" and a professionally taken and edited photo, here are some examples. I know that sometimes people tend to think "Why pay someone to take my pictures when I can just do it myself? Or have my family member do it?" And, to a point, you are right. If you want some fun candids of your kids running around the house or your fun family vacation, get yourself a good quality camera and take some! However, if you want a good quality portrait to keep forever, that is worth paying a little money for. I just wanted to post a few pictures for you to see the difference. My sister took these for me! (I hope to have some up on my blog soon for my header!) I have posted each picture "as is", edited in color and edited in black and white.

See the difference?

Enjoy!I think this one is my favorite from the whole shoot! This one was so funny, because he was just running around then walked over to that wall, sat down, and propped his elbow up. So funny!
